Order Won –Wood Waste Gasification Facility, Plymouth

Mitie Infrastructure Ltd have placed an order with ACP for the design and supply of 5m high pushwalls at their new wood waste gasification plant in Plymouth. The project will utilise ACP’s latest addition to their product range, the 280mm thick prestressed concrete retaining wall panels.

The plant will work by converting waste wood, destined for landfill, to a gas fuel which will be combusted in a boiler to create steam. This steam will drive a turbine to produce energy (26,000 MWh enough to power 6200 homes) and heat (saving around 10,000 MWh of gas). The plant will reduce CO2 emissions by around 16,500 tonnes per year compared to grid supply.
