J N Bentley choose ACP Concrete Bunker Walls

ACP have worked with J N Bentley Ltd many times over the years so it made sense for them to ask ACP to design, supply and install prestressed concrete bunker wall panels to form the perimeter wall and division walls to a new sludge cake pad at Strongford Sewage Treatment Works. Although L Shape panels were originally specified, ACP recommended using prestressed concrete vertical panels which offered greater performance and durability as well as a shorter installation programme and a cost saving!  The project is currently in design and ACP are due on site later this month.

The new sludge cake pad is to store the waste product until a suitable outlet is found. Sewage sludge is a valuable soil conditioner, providing organic matter and nutrients and the recycling of the product to agriculture & restoration sites is seen as the best environmental option available. The sewage works serves a population of 350,000 and Severn Trent Water has invested £45m in the treatment works since 2000.
